Citrus ingredients for animal health product development. MAK Food Company supports specification-led sourcing enquiries, with each reference subject to target-species, composition and intended-use qualification.
Citrus ingredient sourcing for animal formulations requires a clear distinction between juice, pulp, peel and essential-oil fractions. These materials have different compositions and cannot be treated as interchangeable.
Define whether the proposed product is a feed material, complementary feed or another product type, and specify the intended species and route of use.
A technical brief should identify the botanical source, plant fraction, extraction method, acidity and any relevant volatile compounds. Whole-fruit references may retain components absent from clarified juice. A food-grade citrus reference does not by itself establish suitability for a particular animal species.
For an approved reference, assess pH, soluble solids, dispersion and compatibility with the complete formula. Sensory performance in human foods is not a substitute for target-species palatability and tolerance data.
Confirm the selected grade, traceability, analytical limits, packaging, storage and shelf life, together with documented suitability for the intended animal use and destination market. Any animal health positioning needs evidence for the finished product. Ingredient sourcing alone does not support a claim to prevent, treat or cure disease.
